On Amazon, the image decides the click. Using the available image slots well lifts click-through rate and conversion noticeably. But how many product images does Amazon actually need - and which ones?
How many image slots does Amazon have?
Amazon provides 9 image slots per product. Depending on the category, the gallery usually displays 7 images; the rest are reachable through the zoom. Use every slot - an empty one is wasted selling space.
The recommended image set
- Main image (cut-out): product on a pure white background, filling at least 85 percent of the frame.
- Side and detail views: further angles for a complete picture.
- Material or feature infographic: your key benefits visualised - the strongest conversion lever.
- Use and lifestyle: the product in action, giving context, scale and trust.
- Dimensions and what is included: answers the most common follow-up questions.
What image size is optimal?
For the zoom function Amazon recommends at least 2000 x 2000 pixels. The main image has to meet the image guidelines: pure white background (RGB 255,255,255), no logos, text or watermarks. More on that in our guide to the Amazon image guidelines.
Conclusion
